We started MyTreeHouse because we needed it ourselves
Two parents, one neighborhood, and a shared belief that the earliest years deserve the most care. That's how MyTreeHouse LIC was born.
Our story
MyTreeHouse LIC opened its doors in Long Island City because our founders — both parents of young children — couldn't find a daycare that felt truly right. They wanted something small, warm, and deeply intentional. A place where caregivers knew every child by name, where routines felt cozy rather than institutional, and where parents could drop off their babies and actually breathe.
So they built it. Starting with a single room and a handful of families, MyTreeHouse grew organically — word of mouth, neighbor to neighbor — into the community it is today. Every decision we've made since day one has been guided by one question: would we want this for our own children?
Today we serve infants and toddlers from across Long Island City and the surrounding neighborhoods. Our space is intentionally small, our staff is intentionally experienced, and our approach is intentionally child-led. We're proud of what we've built — and we're just getting started.
"Would we want this for our own children?"
The question that guides every decision we make.
How we think about care
Our approach isn't a curriculum. It's a set of beliefs we hold deeply and live out every day.
Follow the child
Children are born curious. Our job isn't to fill them with knowledge — it's to protect their natural drive to explore, question, and discover. We follow their lead.
Relationships first
Secure attachment is the foundation of everything. Before learning, before milestones, before anything else — a child needs to feel safe and loved. We build that first.
Slow down
We resist the rush. Meals are unhurried. Transitions are gentle. Play is open-ended. We believe childhood deserves to be lived at a child's pace, not an adult's schedule.
Families are partners
You know your child best. We share daily updates, hold open communication, and treat every family as a true partner in their child's care and development.
